CHARTS BOLD COURSE AT ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Food, Fibre, and Timber Industries Training Council of WA Inc. (FFTITC) held its Annual General Meeting at the WA Rowing Club on Tuesday on the 19 November 2024, presenting a vision for growth, inclusion, and innovation in workforce development for 2025.
Chairman Darren Culverwell opened the meeting with an acknowledgment of country and an update on the Council’s initiatives, including the development of a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). He expressed gratitude for the contributions of outgoing board member Carlo Gosatti and semi-retired CEO Kay Gerard, while welcoming new CEO Tony Palladino.
Culverwell outlined FFTITC’s expanded industry coverage, which now includes the Racing and Horse Breeding sector alongside AgriHort, Green Skills, Meat and Seafood, Sustainable Furnishings, and more. He highlighted ongoing challenges food, fibre and timber industries were experiencing, such as limited training providers, attracting apprentices, and addressing labour shortages and critical skills shortages, particularly in regional areas.
