To our network,

Tomorrow is my last day with the Food, Fibre and Timber Industries Training Council after nearly 15 years with the organisation.  I have been very lucky to work in a job that I’ve loved.  And I’ve met lots of people, many of whom are now friends. 

I’ve always loved hearing from industry representatives who are always so passionate about what they do.  I’ve been lucky to tour many workplaces and have learnt heaps.  I will miss that!

I’d like to thank all of you for your input over the years.  We really have a fabulous network.

I had a lovely farewell last Thursday which was shared by current and past staff and board members, other Training Councils and people from the State Training Board and the Department of Training and Workforce Development.

So, all the best and it’s been lovely working with you all.

The federal government is providing $100 million for this program which aims to advance research and innovation in Australian forest and wood products.

Grants from $1000 up to $450,000 available for eligible groups and organisations. Deadline 20 May.

Grant opportunity: Clean Energy Future Fund Round 3

Grants from $100,000 available to support the implementation of projects aimed at decarbonising existing industries, developing new green industries, and improving energy efficiency (up to 25% of eligible project costs). Info webinar 28 March, deadline 10 June.

Eco Fashion Week Australia (EFWA) calls for expressions of interest from upcycling designers.

EFWA takes place in and around Perth and Busselton this November. The Upcycling Challenge calls on designers to share creative possibilities for reusing and repurposing textiles. Deadline 2 April.

Scholarship opportunity: 2025 Nuffield Scholarship for Australian primary producers

Do you work in food / fibre and have an idea for a research topic that could add value to your industry sector? $40,000 bursary and 15 week scholarship available. Deadline 31 May.

Fellowship opportunity: Churchill Fellowship

Churchill Fellowships offer the opportunity to travel overseas for four to eight weeks to learn more about a topic or issue that you are passionate about. Deadline 1 May.
